I was in a graduation ceremony today where the speaker listed six facts about success. The speaker delivered his speech in such a sweet manner that made it seem like I’d never heard it before. I was greatly inspired, and since Medium is about storytelling, stories that impact readers positively. So, today, I want to tell the story of six facts about success.
Success is a broad concept.
Each of us has a different definition of success. For example, it could mean achieving prominence or a specific level of social standing for some people, while for others, it just means being content and happy with who and what you are.
A student who prepared for an exam and came out with flying colors will claim he has succeeded. Similarly, a pregnant woman who had a baby and the doctor who operated on her will say they succeeded. Therefore, success cannot be narrowed to one thing because it means different things to different people.
Every success is achieved twice.
Yes, It is a provable truth that every success you see, hears, or personally achieve was done twice. What do I mean by this? A success was like a vision conceived in your mind; you saw it with the eyes of your heart, and something quietly told your inner man, “if you can conceive it, then you can achieve it.”
So you begin the journey to success destination right in your mind by planning, and then you arrive there. You then transfer what you did in your heart or spirit to the physical realm. That’s how every success is achieved; you conceive and then achieve it. For example, every article is written twice. You already conceived the vision you want to deliver and jotted down your points before you commenced the writing.
In essence, the unseen one is the original. In other words, even if the visible is destroyed, you always go back to the spiritual on the unseen one. I hope you understand my concept.
Success is not an accident but a design.
True success is not an accident but a Design. Anything that comes by chance is liable to go by chance. Therefore, an accidental success does not last long. By the term design, I meant you plan it and give all it takes to achieve it. Of a truth, you can conceive a brilliant success idea. However, it may remain an idea in the abstract if you do not plan and take correspondence action.
The wealthiest place in the world is the graveyard. Why? Because many people died with great potential and unfulfilled vision. I’m not scaring you. Instead, I’m motivating you that having an excellent idea does not guarantee success until you take necessary correspondence actions. If you already have a great idea, bring it out and design or plan how to achieve it.
It impacts and inspires others.
When you succeed, you inspire and motivate others to do the same. Not only that, you make a positive impact on people. Success opens the eyes of other people to see what is possible and throws a good challenge that if my friend can succeed in a complex project, I can too. And that’s one primary reason you should not give up on your dream. Because if you do, you will lose the opportunity of encouraging others.
Lasting success takes time to grow.
Lasting success is not achieved by the get rich quick method. It takes time to develop. It, therefore, calls for patience and consistency on the part of the one who wants to pursue it.
The foundation is failure.
Success is the result of many failures. Behind the great success stories, we hear today are many failures. Many people we celebrate today were failures before they succeeded. For example, Barrack Obama failed more than once before becoming the United States president. Tony Blair said his teacher used to call him a failure, yet he became the UK prime minister.
Conclusion
Success indeed means different things to different people. But, whatever it is to you, every success has these common features. First, you achieve your success twice; you first achieve it in the invisible realm before actualizing physically. Second, having an excellent idea does not mean you will succeed because success is not an accident but a design. Third, Your success story will inspire and motivate others to follow suit. In other words, a success story will produce many other success stories. Therefore, success is very, very contagious.
Finally, success takes time to grow, and many failures always precede it. Hence that you have failed severally does not say you will not succeed later. So, please don’t give up; keep pushing and moving. You will get there.
Peace.
