When I was a child, I saw how adults enjoyed things and I saw how we children were always at their mercy. I used to think the adults were having more fun and enjoy life better because they are older, taller, and stronger than children.
I used to believe that they were more opportune, free to go anywhere and eat the fattest meal. But, we, children are younger, shorter, and weaker. More so, we were not so free to go anywhere we liked without their permission.
As I contemplated this, I reasoned that there are many benefits to being an adult. Hence, I wished, at the time, I could time travel to adulthood and have the same opportunities as them. But I couldn’t. I then resolved that when I grow into an adult, I’ll be free like them and enjoy a better life.
A few years later, I turned into a younger adult, and I started enjoying some freedoms. However, there was something unpleasant about the whole scenario. The more I relished the moments, the more responsibilities to attend to. But I tried to dodge it, expecting that those functions will decrease later. But that never happened.
Now I’m a grown adult, married with kids. Years ago, I was sitting in my living room with my first child in my hand. As I reflected on how I and his mum love and care for him. I also thought about the love and care children receive from their parents and good people.
Then I remembered my childhood funny thought of time traveling to adulthood.
Now that I am an adult, I felt I should return to a child free from the responsibilities and worries of life.
Perhaps I’m not the only one who feels this way.
